2022 Centennial Mountain Nebbiolo – 96 Points.

The centerpiece of the Centennial Mountain lineup is the 2022 Nebbiolo, a genuinely authentic and complex expression of a varietal with few high-quality domestic options. It was vinified in one-ton bins adapted for submerged cap fermentations before spending six months in barrique for malolactic fermentation, followed by an additional two and a half years in large cask. The wine offers a beautiful, poised and expressive nose of dried cherries, wilted roses, dried herbs and spice-driven top notes. It is followed by a silky, polished, invigorating palate with assertive yet refined tannins that carry through to a soaring, lifted and mineral-inflected finish. This is a transcendent expression of the varietal from this side of the Atlantic, and I suspect it will continue to evolve beautifully in the bottle into its second decade.

2022 Centennial Mountain Reserve – 93 Points.

The 2022 Reserve is composed of 50% Nebbiolo and the balance Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Zinfandel and Barbera, aged one year in barrique and a second year in large cask. It leads with a lush, dark-fruited herbal bouquet with a woody backdrop, followed by a polished, supple and succulent palate that concludes with a powerful, mineral-inflected finish with a juicy core.

2022 Centennial Mountain Barbera – 92 Points.

The 2022 Barbera opens with a deep, savory nose of black fruits, purple flowers and asphalt, followed by a plush, elegantly sumptuous palate that remains refined despite considerable richness. It finishes with a focused, layered and gently chewy finish propelled by refined tannins and an herbal, bramble-driven finish. This is a structured, serious take on the varietal that remains approachable and delicious.

2022 Centennial Mountain Carricante – 93 Points.

The 2022 Carricante opens with a beautiful bouquet of dried flowers, citrus zest and grated ginger, developing further complexity of pine needle and fennel aromas with aeration. The palate is silky, seamless, vibrant and lifted, concluding with a spry, poised finish that melds a tropical fruit profile with a gently mineral core.
