In 2013, after years of preparing a pristine, unplanted vineyard site atop a ridgeline high on Centennial Mountain in Sonoma County, we began planting Centennial Mountain Vineyard.

Our goal was an ambitious one—to unlock the full potential of our favorite Italian grape varietals here in California, most notably Nebbiolo, as well as Carricante and Nerello Mascalese, the great white and red grapes grown Sicily’s Mount Etna for millennia.

For our team, planting Centennial Mountain was the culmination of years of studying the ideal climate and soils for these varietals, as well as practical experience gained by establishing two vineyards on Mount Etna in Sicily, where we worked with Italian viticultural and winemaking masters to craft wines under the Aeris name. While our experiences in Italy were transformative, the most important thing they achieved was to pave the way for planting Centennial Mountain Vineyard.

Establishing a vineyard is a labor of love that requires thoughtfulness and patience. Today, the maturing vines at our Centennial Mountain Vineyard are producing evermore complex and alluring wines, including the only Carricante and Nerello Mascalese wines grown in the US. We are so thrilled with the results that, beginning with the extraordinary 2021 vintage, we dedicated ourselves to making wines exclusively from Centennial Mountain Vineyard and have changed our name from Aeris to Centennial Mountain.

Without question, our 2021 Centennial Mountain wines are the finest we have ever produced. Combining the quality of a perfect growing season with gracefully aging vines and an ever-more sophisticated approach to viticulture and winemaking refined through trial and experimentation, the structure and concentration of our 2021s is off the charts. At the same time, they possess that sense of “somewhereness” we prize, with a terroir-driven minerality that has emerged as one of the hallmarks of Centennial Mountain Vineyard. In early reviews, Antonio Galloni of Vinous has hailed our 2021s as “seriously impressive across the board,” and called our 2021 Centennial Mountain Nebbiolo “possibly the single greatest Nebbiolo I have tasted from the United States.” We can’t wait to share these wines with you.

Thank you for your patronage and for joining us on this journey!
